Feedback Needed!

Laura's "Sweet Memories" (the shop) needs your help!
Please take a minute and leave a comment here.  Thanks.

I simply need to know what you would be most likely to purchase if you were to visit my shop in 2013.

I have all sorts of handmade souvenirs, books, bookmarks, old-fashioned hard candies, chocolates and a number of flavors of fudge.  (These are just some of the items in the shop.)

If you come, visiting the Laura Ingalls Wilder Historic Home and Museum, what would you most likely want to take home with you to remember your visit?  (Please, be specific. Thanks.)

Since every business seems to be hurting financially these days, and mine in no exception - I'd also like to get an idea of how much your average purchase might be.

Each year I endeavor to bring items to my visitors which they would like - but I have limited space and finances.  So I must use both wisely.  Over the last 3 years, I have expanded the variety of items in the shop.  But due to decreased tourism, I must make decisions as to what I'll continue to stock.

Please help me.  Thanks.  The Old Man in the Bib Overalls

  1. I want dolls! I have never found Little House on the Prairie dolls to play with, so I use the Sunshine Family dolls from the 70's.

Homemade Laura Ingalls clothes for the 18 inch fashion dolls. Craft kits to repeat some of the crafts the Ingalls family made. For ex., a 9 patch quilt kit for dolls.

I also tried to replicate some of their Christmas memories. I would buy tin cups, peppermint sticks and little heart cakes to have a Plum Creek Christmas.

You should sell the Prairie Primer, it is a homeschool curriculum many of us are using that takes us through all the Little House books. Once you read that, you'll have even more ideas of what you could sell. We also have a huge group of us that blog through our curriculum and use Facebook to share ideas. There are many places you can tap into to find out what moms would buy.

  3. Hello again Jim!
Well, there's what I want, and then there's what I would actually be able to afford. Not the same, sadly. I loved your drawings so much! That would probably be first on my list. I don't remember what ornaments you have but I also would love small items from the books made into ornaments - a small pair of red mittens, a miniature sled, a little tin cup, etc. etc. Ornaments are my usual souvenir from anywhere I visit, as they are generally pretty affordable even on a tighter budget.

I think these are great ideas.

Would you be able to put together a small recipe book based upon what you've cooked up for your blog? That would be a nice addition.
