Freda's Thoughts, "Motherhood, denied"

This is not a normal post of Freda. This is to honor Mother's Day.
Freda asked me to post her feelings on the subject for her.
Freda often quotes a few lines from a hymn, which is about 3 centuries old. "God Moves in a Mysterious Way".  The lines go like this: "God moves in a mysterious way, His wonders to perform; He plants His footsteps in the sea, and rides upon the storm. ...  Ye fearful saints, fresh courage take; The clouds ye so much dread, Are big with mercy, and shall break, With blessing on thy head. ... Judge not the Lord by feeble sense, But trust Him for His grace; Behind a frowning providence, He hides a smiling face. ... Blind unbelief is sure to err, And scan His work in vain, God is His own interpreter, And He will make it plain.  Amen."
Mother's Day has always been a sore day for Freda.  When, at church, they asked the mothers to stand to be recognized and honored, she had to stay seated.  Freda never was blessed to give birth.  She carried a child, who didn't make it to birth.  She and her husband attempted adoption, but were turned down; due to their financial status.  Her heart was broken; but not her spirit.
She went on, keeping her faith in God.
In His providence, Freda was able to raise, in part, a couple of nieces and yet another family friend's girl. And, to my knowledge, all of them feel that Freda did a good job of it!
But, now, as the years have passed, she can look upon Mother's Day and not have that sorrow in her heart which plagued her so.  She now can see that, yes, it was all in God's plan, that she be the mother to someone not her own.  And now, having found her way to God in later years; she looks forward to meeting face to face with that one she carried, but did not birth. She knows that there will come that special day in heaven when she will know that she was truly a mother after all.
Freda and I, both, wish all a Happy Mother's Day!   The Old Man in the Bib Overalls
